The mission of ATS is to provide training and consultation to correctional, children’s services, and health providers interested in addressing the long-term effects of chronic stress. Through the widespread dissemination of the TARGET model, ATS is committed to empowering providers with cutting-edge knowledge and effective skills to address the core biological and psychological issues for trauma survivors. 

Located in Farmington, Connecticut, ATS serves agencies and state systems across the United States. As a new company, our goal is to increase our capacity to provide services in other parts of the country and to develop cutting-edge technologies to enhance our training programs.

Advanced Trauma Solutions, Inc. is a Connecticut corporation and the exclusive licensed provider of the TARGET treatment model. ATS is dedicated to becoming a leader in the field of trauma treatment. By combining scientific knowledge, evidence-based practices, and expert professional staff, ATS is at the forefront of developing  solutions to the long-term  effects  of  chronic  and  extreme  stress. As a company, our core values are rooted in integrity, a desire to improve the lives of others, and a willingness to model what we teach. Dr. Ford Chaired the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Scientific Review Subcommittee for the Department of Veterans Affairs (2009-2011) and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Trauma and Dissociation and on the Editorial Board of several leading peer review journals. He recently co-edited three books, Treating Traumatized Children (October 2008, Routledge, with D. Brom & R. Pat-Horenczyk), the Encyclopedia of Psychological Trauma (November 2008, Wiley, with G. Reyes & J. Elhai), and Treating Complex Traumatic Stress Disorders (February 2009, Guilford, with C. Courtois), and authored a textbook on PTSD, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: Scientific and Professional Dimensions (June 2009, Elsevier/Academic Press). He has books forthcoming with Guilford Press, Clinician’s Guide to Treating Complex Traumatic Stress Disorders (co-authored with C. Courtois, 2013), and Treating Complex Traumatic Stress Disorders in Children and Adolescents (co-edited with C. Courtois, 2013), with John Wiley and Sons, Clinical Assessment and Treatment Planning for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and other Posttraumatic Reactions (co-authored with B. C. Frueh, J. D. Elhai, and A. Grubaugh, 2012), and with Sourcebooks, Hijacked by Your Brain (co-authored with J. Wortmann, 2013).
Judy Ford, M.A, has been a practicing Marriage and Family Therapist for over 25 years, working primarily with families with a history of intergenerational abuse and neglect and community violence. As an agency clinical director she developed and implemented clinical and case management programs and parenting curricula for women involved in the child welfare system and has trained and supervised clinical and home visiting staff in engaging and retaining those families in services. She has developed and administered a wide range of community based interagency programs, and served on the Vermont Task Force on Childrenʼs Mental Health. She has developed and provided training and consultation to local, regional and statewide programs designed to achieve multidisciplinary systems of care for women with young children, such as the Vermont Childrenʼs Upstream Services Initiative. 


Lindy Morgan has served as the ATS Business Manager since 2008, responsible for all aspects of business operations and helping the organization move toward the achievement of financial and customer service goals.  Before coming to ATS, Lindy worked in financial management for the cities of Vacaville & Suisun City, California.  Her work responsibilities now include budgeting, financial reporting, development and monitoring of contracts, development of HR policies and procedures, and acting as the liaison for all business matters with ATS client agencies. She is currently working toward a Business Credential at Solano Community College.  

Katy Reid, M.S.

Katy Reid is a TARGET trainer and consultant with Advanced Trauma Solutions, Inc. and completing her final semester towards her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Western Connecticut State University. Katy was named WCSU’s Connecticut Counseling Association Graduate Student Representative.  

Katy has worked for several years with adolescents in Connecticut through community- based juvenile justice programs, Yale University’s Gear Up Program and the facilitation of support groups for the chronically ill. Katy holds a B.A. from the University of San Diego in Communication Studies where she was honored as a Trustee Merit Scholarship Recipient.

Over the course of her career she has worked in educational, social service, mental health, substance abuse, and child welfare systems, all with a focus on women, children, and families. At the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, she served first as the Director of Project SAFE, a statewide program to provide substance abuse services for parents involved in the child welfare system. Later, as the state agency Director of Womenʼs Services, Ms. Ford was the lead in developing statewide trauma services in the public behavioral health system. As an Instructor at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Department of Psychiatry, Ms. Ford adapted TARGET research protocols and study findings into treatment manuals and educational/training curricula. 

She has taught and conducted trainings on a variety of topics related to child development, family violence, and the long-term effects of psychological trauma on children and adults. In 2008 she co-founded (with Julian Ford) Advanced Trauma Solutions, Inc., the sole licensed provider of the TARGET treatment model, and serves as president of that dissemination organization. TARGET was developed by Julian Ford, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He has conducted several federally funded studies evaluating TARGET and other evidence-based practices, prepared expert white papers on traumatic stress for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice, and the Child Health and Development Institute, and provided expert consultation on traumatic stress research and treatment to the World Health Organization, the Public Health Service Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research, the Administration for Children and Families, the American Bar 

Christine Kopcyk
Operations Manager
​Christine Kopcyk serves as the ATS Operations Manager, covering management responsibilities and support services for employees in Farmington, CT, Chicago, Ill, and Fairfield, CA. Christine has 13 years of experience as an Administrative Professional, developing office and technical skills in addition to her strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. At ATS, she is integrally involved in service delivery, maintaining the databases for consulting and fidelity monitoring services and reporting, tracking the flow of teaching tools and materials, and coordinating all vendor services.





Christopher Muscatello
TARGET Trainer, Consultant, and Fidelity Monitor
Chris Muscatello is a TARGET Trainer, Fidelity Monitor, and Consultant with Advanced Trauma Solutions. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Connecticut College and a Master’s in Couple and Family Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago.
 
Prior to joining ATS, Chris worked as a Therapist for a Foster Care agency in Illinois, providing community-based services to children of all ages and their foster/ biological siblings and parents. Chris has extensive experience working with a variety of therapy models, including Family Systems models, Solution-Focused, the ARC model, and TARGET. Chris also spent several summers working as a counselor for a Residential Treatment Program for children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional difficulties in New Hampshire. Outside of ATS, Chris continues to work as a Therapeutic Mentor and Parent Coach for a transitional support program for adolescents and their families. ​

Tom Parkes is a consultant and trainer with Advanced Trauma Solutions. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Connecticut. He is also currently completing his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut with a concentration in Individuals, Groups & Families.

 
Prior to working with Advanced Trauma Solutions, Tom was a Case Coordinator for a Child, Youth, & Family Support Center where he provided services for youth involved with the juvenile justice system. Here he was responsible for facilitating a number of evidence based group interventions and providing individual case management.
 
Outside of work, Tom is a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters and has volunteered in Ghana through International Volunteers HQ. He has a special interest in intersection of mindfulness and trauma and was recently certified to teach a trauma-focused mindfulness based yoga through the Prison Yoga Project.
